Original 1st printing 18 x 24&1/2" concert/event poster for "An Aquarian Exposition- 3 Days of Peace & Music", (more commonly known as "the Woodstock Music & Art Fair", or simply, "Woodstock"), held at Max Yasgur's farm in White Lake, NY from 8/17-17/1969 (*festival actually formally closed on the morning of August 19th).
Bands/acts listed include: Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Tim Hardin, Incredible String Band, Richie Havens, Ravi Shankar, Sweetwater, Bert Sommer, Sly & the Family Stone, Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater (Revival), Grateful Dead, Keef Hartley, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Mountain, Quill, Santana, The Who, the Band, Jeff Beck Group (*canceled), Blood, Sweat & Tears, Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Butterfly (*canceled), Ten Years After and Johnny Winter. There were several lineup changes/additions not reflected on the poster, including the addition of Country Joe & the Fish, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Melanie, John Sebastian and Sri Swami Satchidananda.
Art by Arnold Skolnick, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 257 (plate 3.1).
Medium-thick glossy-coated index stock poster is in good/decent (B/B-) condition; there is a moderate degree of fading/discoloration (item was famed and exposed to sunlight) with a thin strip of matte burn going around all four margins, a pair of thin diagonal pressure creases along the bottom right margin/edge, a tiny bump in the bottom left corner tip, a tiny vertical stress bend in the bottom margin (going through "Town"), a stray handling ding/pin-prick spot or two hiding within the image area and a bit of mounting tape residue along the reverse-side top margin, otherwise OK... physically, it's in pretty decent shape- it's just a bit "cooked".
As there are often questions regarding the authenticity of these posters (there are NUMEROUS reprints), I will be happy to provide a COA.
