Description

Original 1st printing 20&7/8 (trimmed down from 22) x 28&1/2" concert poster for a series of Bill Graham-produced shows held at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA from 8/13-25/1968.

Shows listed include: the Who appearing with James Cotton and Magic Sam (8/13-15), Creedence Clearwater Revival with It's A Beautiful Day and Albert Collins (8/16-18), the Grateful Dead with Kaleidoscope and Albert Collins (8/20-22) and Quicksilver Messenger Service with Spooky Tooth and Cold Blood (8/23-25).

Art by Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley, image is # 133 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series.

Medium-thick flat index stock poster is in used (B- to C+) condition; the entire top margin has been hand-trimmed by approximately 1&1/8" (Bill Graham credit removed), along with a couple of small tears in the lower left margin, a tiny nip tear in the lower right margin, a bit of light creasing around the edges, light handling wear and a stray stress bend or two hiding within the image area... the photo should show pretty clearly what the deal is with this one.

If you can get past the top edge trimming, all of the artwork is still all there and pretty much unblemished- a nice used artifact example of a classic Bill Graham poster.

This image was originally intended for the Family Dog (FD 130/131 shows), but since Chet couldn't afford color printing, Rick took it over to Bill Graham and simply swapped out the band listings/dates in the left/right panels.
