Description

Original 1st printing 10&7/8 x 17" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Savoy Brown (*canceled, replaced by Sons of Champlin) and AUM at the Community Concourse Convention Hall in San Diego, CA on 1/10/1970.

Art by Dennis Friga, image (handbill) is featured in the Art of Rock on page 372 (plate 4.120).

Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are tack holes in all four corners, along with a diagonal wedge of clear tape in the upper right corner, a series of fairly soft/light horizontal roll creases, a few stray handling/edge dings here and there, a tiny puncture tear between the "fu" of "Grateful" and a bit of clear tape covering up pulls on the reverse side (all four corners and in the center of the poster), otherwise OK.

Uncommon/hard-to-find early 1970 Dead poster from Southern California, the consignor told me how she saved up all of her babysitting money to attend this show- and it was totally worth it! Check it out for yourself, stream the show HERE:
