Description

Original 1st printing 4&7/8 x 8&5/8" blank-reverse concert handbill for the 13th Floor Elevators* appearing with the Great Society (featuring Grace Slick, Friday Only) and Sopwith Camel (Saturday only) at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA from 8/26-27/1966. (*Elevators allegedly canceled, replaced by Country Joe & the Fish (Saturday) and Quicksilver Messenger Service (Friday)- this is still debated by various sources)

Art by Wes Wilson (Grace Slick photo by Herb Greene), image is # 25 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series. (BG-25-OHB-A in the Eric King guide)

Thin flat vellum stock full-color handbill (first one in the series) is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there are are a series of tiny white pin-prick spots along the upper right margin and above the "r" of "Elevator", along with a bit of minor creasing/wear in the lower right corner. a soft scuff mark along the lower left margin, a slightly rounded bottom left corner tip, a few tiny edge dings/spots lurking around the outer margin area and a whisper of handling wear, otherwise fine.

BEAUTIFUL 1st printing example of this ICONIC 1966 Fillmore handbill.
