Description

Original 1st printing 6&1/2 x 13&1/4" fold-out event program (unfolds to 30 x 13&1/4"), along with a 5 x 7&1/2" program notes handbill and 1 x 1&1/2" ticket stub for the 12/5/1970 performance of "Tarot" (a theater piece/musical) at the Chelsea Theater Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The show was conceived by Joe McCord of "the Rubber Duck", with music composed by Tom Constanten and featured (among others at various times) Tom's Grateful Dead bandmate Jerry Garcia, Gary "Chicken" Hirsh of Country Joe & the Fish and a cast of dozens more actors and musicians.

Design by "Trottier's Graphic Embellishments", medium-thick flat vellum stock program is in decent/used (B/B-to B-) condition; there are a series of tiny stains scattered throughout the piece, along with a moderate amount of spine wear along the folds, handling/creasing, a series of small surface rub marks on the outer cover, a few small edge splits along the folds and a few other little issues here and there... a well-worn specimen. The ticket stub has dark tape marks around the border and the info sheet has a little bit of minor wear (center fold, tiny mold spots along the bottom edge), but is mostly OK.

INCREDIBLY UNUSUAL/OBSCURE set of Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia-related artifacts from late 1970, the entire bizarre story of this project is too much for me to describe accurately, but you can read about it HERE:
