Description

Original 1st printing 12&7/8 x 19&3/4" (appx. -top margin cut on a slight diagonal angle by about 1/8") concert/event poster for beat poet Allen Ginsberg and Swami Bhaktivendanta appearing along with the Grateful Dead, Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) and Moby Grape in a benefit* performance (*for the San Francisco Krishna Temple), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 1/29/1967.

Design by Harvey Cohen (*thanks Andy!), image ("Krishna Consciousness Comes West") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 107 (plate 2.18).

Medium flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are a series of small pin-prick age/mold spots along the top edge, along with a well-camouflaged handling ding or two hiding within the image area, but overall it's in pretty nice shape.

Overall, a very decent-looking example of this early-1967 Avalon benefit poster with a great design and a stacked lineup.
