Description

Original 1st printing 14 x 21&1/2" concert poster for Country Joe & the Fish appearing with Led Zeppelin (their San Francisco debut) and Taj Mahal at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA from 1/9-11/1969.

Art by Randy Tuten (with William "Daddy Bread" Bosdedt and a photo by Peter Pynchon), image is # 155 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series.

Medium glossy-coated stock poster is in used (B-) condition; as this example was most likely hastily removed from public display, there are LARGE areas of wear/creasing and several large staple-hole pulls around the "o" of "Joe" and in the top center margin, along with a 2" jagged vertical tear going through the creased area in the top center margin, a long diagonal/horizontal razor slice that extends from the "o": of "Joe" over to the right margin (both are sealed on the reverse with clear tape), a bit of creasing in all four corner tips, a series of fingerprint smudges/pin-prick spots here and there, a few tiny stress/handling dings hiding within the image area... the photo should show pretty clearly what's going on with this one.

Conditional issues aside, this poster really has a lot going for it in a historical sense... in addition to the Taj and Zeppelin sets, Country Joe's guests on the final night (1/11) included Jerry Garcia and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna (incidentally, the Airplane's Jack Casady was filling in on bass for Country Joe at all of these shows) and Steve Miller.

A HUGE night at the Fillmore for only $3.50!
