Description

Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 19&7/8" benefit concert poster (3rd Annual Children's Adventure Day Camp benefit), which lists appearances by the Grateful Dead (*probably cancelled), Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Grass Roots, Sunshine, the New Improved Jook Savages (featuring poster artist Rick Griffin), P.H. Phactor (Jug Band), the Si Perkoff Jazz Quintet, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Larry Hankin, Lew Welch, Don "Howard Hesseman" Sturdy and Gary Goodrow all appearing at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 8/7/1966.

Art by Mary Kay Brown, image is not part of the numbered Bill Graham/Fillmore series (this show falls on the day after the BG 21 show), image appears in the Art of Rock on page 150 (plate 2.68) in the "Fillmore Auditorium Benefits" chapter.

Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are staple holes (all four corners), along with a few tiny edge/corner-tip dings, a trace of toning/matte burn going around the outer edges, a VERY soft diagonal bend in the lower right margin, a few light surface smudges/pin-prick spots here and there, light handling wear and a series of tape remnants/stains/pulls on the reverse side ( a couple of which are barely starting to bleed through the paper in the upper right corner), otherwise fine.

Very nice-looking gently-used example of this very charming late-'66 Fillmore benefit poster. These don't turn up all that frequently these days.
