Description

Original 1st printing (union logo #72) 14 x 20&1/4" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with the Mothers of Invention (featuring Frank Zappa) and Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA from 6/3-4/1966.

Art by Wes Wilson, image is # 9 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series.

Medium flat vellum stock poster is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; there are tack holes with tiny wedge tears/pulls in all four corners, along with a 1&1/2" tear in the upper left margin (partially sealed on the reverse with a piece of clear tape), a moderate amount of toning with a noticeable degree of ink fading in the upper right quadrant, a tiny black pen scratch in the lower right margin, a few very light/thin stress bends hiding within the image area and a few scuffs/tiny surface pulls and pin-prick stains on the reverse... definitely a survivor, but not without its charms.

This image marks the Grateful Dead's first appearance on a numbered Fillmore poster.
