Description

Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" Agency for the Performing Arts (APA) 2-sided typed contract and 4&3/8 x 6&1/4" concert ticket (with handwritten receipt on the reverse side) for an appearance by Canned Heat at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, CA on 11/25/1967. (*show also featured the Youngbloods, Clear Light and Merry-Go-Round)

Contract has been HAND-SIGNED by both the promoter (Jim Salzer, in blue pen) and band representative (original Canned Heat drummer Frank Cook, in black flair pen).

Thin flat stock contract is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; really not much more than a couple of minor creases/bends here and there, a pair of flattened-out horizontal folds and a couple of corner-tip bends, otherwise it is an INCREDIBLY well-preserved piece of 50-plus-year-old used office material, right from the promoter's archive.

The ticket (printed on medium-thin index stock) is in good shape (about a B/B+ overall), with a semi-flattened center crease and a bit of handling wear; it is HAND-SIGNED by Canned Heat bassist (Samuel) Larry "the Mole" Taylor with a receipt for a $375 cash payment from Jim Salzer (handwritten by Salzer in blue Bic pen).

AWESOME original late-'60's pair of Canned Heat concert artifacts, including details about set length (a single 45-minute set), the band's fee ($750) and more. Check out other listings for additional Jim Salzer contracts for Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & the Holding Company and Buffalo Springfield.
