Description

Original 1st printing 23 x 16" (folds in half to 11&1/2 x 16") band management-issued newspaper-style promo ("Freak Out News") with a concert advertisement for Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention appearing at San Marcos (CA) High School on 10/15/1966.

Designer unknown/not credited (likely FZ and manager Herb Cohen), thin pulpy newsprint stock item is in good/decent (B/B-) condition; there is a small 1 x 1&1/4" area of missing paper (about the size of two overlapping dimes) in the lower right corner of the first page; the outline from where it was razor-sliced carries over onto the lower left corner of the reverse side (the side with the concert ad), along with a horizontal center fold and bit of spine wear (a tiny split at the intersection of the folds), a bit of toning, a couple of tiny nip tears around the outer edges, a small bend in the upper right corner and other assorted minor issues (nothing serious); considering the relative fragility of the item, it is in pretty good shape.

Absolutely FASCINATING and VERY uncommon late-1966 Mothers-management-issued promo/concert artifact, complete with a series of unflattering reviews, funky collage art and more.
