Original 1st printing (unofficial/unauthorized) approximately 16 x 23" (left right edges unevenly hand-cut) clear plastic/translucent concert/event poster for the 1970 Hollywood Music Festival, held in Newcastle-On-Lyme, England from 5/23-24/1970.
Artist unknown/not credited, poster lists Festival performers the Grateful Dead, Traffic, Family, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Colosseum, Jose Feliciano, Radha Krishna Temple, the James Gang (with Joe Walsh), Mike Cooper, Mungo Jerry, Black Sabbath (with Ozzy Osbourne), Free, Shagrat, Trader Horne and Wildmouth. *this is the orange ink version, we also have a version in blue/green ink listed separately
Clear plastic silkscreen poster is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; aside from the aforementioned hand-cut edges (*more on that below), there are a tack holes in all four corners, along with a series of tiny mud splatter stains (authentic!), pin-prick surface spots and tiny scuffs here and there, but it is still intact and could probably literally be wiped clean due to the plastic that it's printed on.... but I'll leave that to the eventual owner.
Absolutely WILD oddball item from the 1st-ever UK appearance of the Grateful Dead! Apparently these "posters" were hand-silkscreened onto a large rolled-up sheet of plastic by an enterprising group of hippies who set up shop on the side of the road leading into the festival- if you wanted a poster, they would simply unfurl a section of the roll and cut one off for you! I'm not sure how many were made/sold, or how many colors they came in, but they are definitely UNIQUE and are definitely tied to the event, if not officially.
