Description

Original 1st printing 19&1/4 x 27&3/4" concert poster for the Jimi Hendrix Experience appearing with Electric Flag, Blue Cheer and the Soft Machine at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA on 2/10/1968.

Art by John Van Hamersveld, image (1968 Personality Posters reprint with silver background behind Jimi's head) is featured in the Art of Rock on page 277 (plate 3.72). This is the ORIGINAL version.

Medium-thick flat index stock poster has been professionally restored to excellent (B+) condition; the piece has received a rice-paper backing for stability, in addition to a series of semi-pronounced creases/bends that have been flattened/pressed-out, a couple of areas of minor touch-up and a light cleaning to remove dirt on the white background behind Jimi's head; there is still a subtle wave to the paper, along with a couple of slightly rounded corner-tips and a tiny edge ding or two lurking around the outer edges, but it looks pretty good overall- a very presentable display example.

One of Van Hamersveld's most popular and enduring images, this was one of the earliest Pinnacle posters to be reprinted- the first reprint was already in circulation by the summer of 1968.
