Description

Original 1st printing (large format) 16&5/8 x 27&3/4" (professionally restored and linen-backed to 18&3/8 x 29&3/8" total size) concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with It's A Beautiful Day and Theater of Madness at the H.I.C. Exhibition Center in Honolulu, HI from 7/25-27/1968* (show cancelled, also misidentified in the AOR as 1969).

Art by Rick Griffin, image ("Hawaiian Aoxoamoxoa") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 291 (plate 3.116 (reprint)- what we are offering is the large 1st edition).

Medium-thick flat index stock (there is also a glossy coated index stock version) poster has been professionally restored to excellent (B+) condition; staple holes in all four corners have been repaired/filled-in, along with a mild pressing to flatten out a couple of well-hidden thin bends/creases and a minor bit of color touch-up and there is still a minor amount of edge wear (a few scattered pin-prick edge dings/tiny creases) and a couple of thin diagonal bends in the upper right corner (mostly confined to the linen-backed area), but overall it looks pretty darn nice - absolutely NO half-tone color fading (a common issue with this poster).

An absolutely GORGEOUS 1st printing example of one of the most coveted Grateful Dead images of all time.
