Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 19&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.
Art by Alton Kelley with Stanley Mouse, image ("Frankenstein") is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there are tack holes in all four corners, along with a soft/subtle surface stain just to the left of the "G" of "Greatful", a few minor handling dings/pin-prick spots here and there, a series of tiny stress creases/age spots along the right margin, a soft horizontal roll bend near the top margin and a couple of tiny stains on the reverse side, otherwise fine.
According to some sources, this was the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic Dead!
