Description

Original 1st printing ("unblocked"*) 14 x 22&1/4" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Charlie Musselwhite and Petris at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 5/30-6/1/1968.

*a number of existing examples that were distributed and hung up at the time of the shows have the days of the week (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) at the top of the poster blacked out with magic marker. This one does NOT have the dates blocked.

Art by Alton Kelley, image ("Memorial") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 179 (plate 2.160). *this example has UNBLOCKED dates in the top margin (see below)

Medium-thin flat index stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there is a small 3/4" tear in the top left margin, along with a few thin diagonal creases covering most of the lower right corner, a series of semi-soft handling dings/light creases scattered throughout, a few stray tiny pin-prick surface stains hiding within the image area and a hint of edge wear, otherwise fine.

*Additionally, this example has been HAND-SIGNED (in blue sharpie) by former Oakland Hells Angels president Ralph "Sonny" Barger.

A very decent-looking "unblocked" example of this classic 1968 Grateful Dead image from the Carousel signed by none other than Sonny Barger himself.
