Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 21&3/4" concert/event poster for the 1st Northern California Folk-Rock Festival, held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, CA from 5/18-19/1968.
Poster lists performances by: Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Country Joe & the Fish, the Animals, Taj Mahal, Ravi Shankar, Electric Flag, Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), the Youngbloods and Kaleidoscope. Also appeared (not listed): Grateful Dead, Crome Syrcus, Trans-Atlantic Railroad and more.
Design by Carson Morris Studios, the image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 232 (plate 2.341).
Medium flat vellum stock poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there are tack/pin holes in all four corners, with a couple of tiny edge nips in the bottom right corner tip, a small bend in the lower left corner, a light amount of handling wear, a few tiny surface dings/spots hiding within the image area and a touch of toning, otherwise it is a pretty nice-looking example of the somewhat hard-to-find thicker vellum stock version of this poster.
Here's a fascinating audience-shot super-8 film clip of the Doors in action at the Festival;
