Description

Original 1st printing 16&5/8 x 21&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with the New Riders of the Purple Sage at Hill Auditorium on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI on 12/15/1971.

Art by Gary Grimshaw, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 393 (plate 4.187), this is the LOCALLY-DISTRIBUTED version WITH the ticket outlet strip added to the lower border.

Medium-thick vellum stock poster is in near mint to excellent (A-/B+ to B+) condition; there are a couple of EXTRA-TINY "mouse bite" nips along the upper left margin, a couple of tiny corner-tip creases and one or two well-camouflaged handling/stress bends hiding within the image area, otherwise it is just about the SHARPEST example of the VERY hard-to-find locally distributed version of this classic Grimshaw Dead image; as most of these were put up for public display around Ann Arbor at the time, most of them have some form of display wear (holes, tape, etc...)- this example is the first exception to that issue that I have seen.

Check out a very crisp-sounding soundboard recording of the show HERE:
