Original 1st printing 14 x 20" concert/event poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), Moby Grape, the Sparrow, Country Joe & the Fish and the Grateful Dead (*not listed) appearing in a benefit (a fundraiser for the Straight Theatre and Newstage), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 3/5/1967.
Art by B. Kliban, medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in near mint to excellent (A-/B+ to B+) condition; really nothing more than a couple of nearly-invisible bends in the upper/lower right corner tips and a stray handling ding or two hiding within the image area, otherwise it is a VERY sharp example of this semi-uncommon early-'67 Avalon benefit poster with a stellar lineup and a great design.
Of course, Bernard Kliban went on to much greater fame in the 1970's with his cartoon cats, Tunisian tongues and comically oversized plates of food.
