Description

Original 1st printing 13 x 26&1/4" concert poster for "An American Music Show", an all-day event held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on 9/5/1968.

Art by Raphael (Bob) Schnepf and John Van Hamersveld, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 277 (plate 3.71) and lists appearances by: Joan Baez, the Everly Brothers, the Byrds, Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), Country Joe & the Fish, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, Wilson Pickett and the Mothers of Invention (with Frank Zappa).

Medium-thick glossy-coated index stock poster is in good (B) condition; there are tack holes in the upper left/right corners and in the bottom center margin, along with a moderate amount of handling wear, a few tiny pin prick surface spots and thin stress creases scattered throughout the image area, a small 1/4" tear with a bit of creasing along thge lower left margin, a few edge/corner-tip dings and about 20 tape marks/remnants on the (toned) reverse, otherwise it is a very presentable example of this colorful 1968 image from the Pinnacle series.

One of the more playful images in the Pinnacle series, this show also acted as a benefit for the L.A. Free Clinic.
