Original 1st printing 13 x 21&1/2" concert/event poster for Gold Rush, a single-day event held in Lake Amador, CA on 10/4/1969. Acts listed include: Santana, Taj Mahal, Kaleidoscope, Albert Collins, Bo Diddley, Al Wilson, Southwind, Ike & Tina Turner, Country Weather, John Fahey, Sons of Champlin, Linn County and Daybreak.
Design by Carson-Morris Studios (not credited), image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 262 (plate 3.23)
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in decent/used (B/B-) condition; there are a series of semi-pronounced horizontal creases/bends, along with a moderate degree of handling wear/stress creasing throughout, staple/pin holes in all four corners, a bit of creasing along the left/right margins and a bit of a curl to the paper from being rolled and sent through the US Mail (address/postmark and canceled stamps on the reverse, along with a pair of tape pulls and remnants of the original masking tape used to hold the poster closed as it traveled through the mail; judging by the placement of the tape pulls, the poster was rolled up to about a 1-1&1/2" diameter- VERY tight)...
First time I have ever seen a poster sent through the mail like this; apparently the Gold Rush promotions office didn't have the time or budget to deal with mailing tubes, so that's how it was sent out... pretty miraculous that it survived, a testament to the sturdiness of the paper.
Conditional issues aside, this is a pretty unique artifact from what was by many accounts a VERY fun day.
