Original 1st printing 17&3/8 x 22&3/8" event/concert poster for the 6/4-5/1970 Trans Continental Pop Festival, held at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
This show was the final stop on the legendary "Festival Express" train tour across Canada and lists the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, the Band, Buddy Guy, Delaney & Bonnie, Mashmakan, Charlebois, James & the Good Brothers, Eric Andersen, Mountain, Ian & Sylvia and the Great Speckled Bird, Tom Rush, John Sebastian and Smith.
Design by Ken Walker and John Lown, image (identical image from the Toronto stop) is featured in the art of Rock on page 376 (plate 4.132).
Thin flat index stock Poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are pin holes and subtle diagonal tape shadows in all four corners (plus another pin hole in the upper right margin), along with a couple of thin scuffs in the left center margin, a couple of ultra-soft pin-prick spots just to the right of the "l" in "Festival", a couple of well-hidden surface scratches/tiny thin stress bends/handling dings scattered here and there and a couple of light tape shadows on the reverse, otherwise fine.
A very cool artifact from a legendary tour (immortalized in the film "Festival Express"), check out raw footage of the Dead performing "Lovelight" on 7/4 HERE:
