Original 1st printing 5&1/2 x 8&5/8" concert handbill for the Grateful Dead appearing with Moby Grape, Love (featuring Arthur Lee), Loading Zone and Blue Crumb Truck Factory at Winterland in San Francisco, CA on 3/3/1967* (after a few false starts, this was actually the very first GD appearance at Winterland).
Art by (Donna) Herrick, (full-color poster) image ("The First Annual Love Circus") is featured in the Art of Rock on page 188 (plate 2.194)- this is the monochrome handbill.
Thin textured semi-gloss stock handbill is in excellent (B+) condition; just a VERY soft discoloration/stain just beneath the "t" of "Winterland", a couple of soft vertical creases in the upper right margin and a stray pinch ding/soft bend or two hiding within the image area, otherwise fine.
Very neat little handbill from the Dead's Winterland debut. Charles Perry details the Dead's participation at the show, the involvement of the SF Diggers and the promoters ("Love Conspiracy Commune") in his book "Haight-Ashbury- A History" (pagres 144-145, 2005 softcover edition)
