Original 1st printing 13&7/8 x 20" concert/event poster for the Grateful Dead and the Wildflower appearing in a benefit (a fundraiser for the Straight Theatre in Haight-Ashbury), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 5/19/1966. (*event also featured performances by beat poet Michael McClure, along with Ed Bullins and Black Arts West and the Outfit).
Art by Jacob, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 106 (plate 2.16).
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there is a hint of toning, staple/tack holes in all four corners and top center margin, a pair of small stains in the top left corner tip and upper left/center margin, a couple of tiny edge nicks/pressure indentations with a light amount of discoloration in the left margin, a sextet of tape pulls on the reverse, light handling wear and a couple of small corner/edge bends, otherwise fine.
ULTRA-early 1st printing Grateful Dead poster from the Avalon, this was the band's VERY FIRST appearance at the venue, pre-dating the FD 10 "Hayfever" show by a week.
