Description

Original 1st printing 7&3/8 x 11" concert flyer for "Z.Z. Top's 1st Annual Texas Size Rompin' Stompin' Barn Dance and Bar-B-Q", featuring the aforementioned Z.Z. Top, along with (not listed) Santana, Bad Company (*with special guest Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin on guitar) and Joe Cocker appearing at the University of Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX on 9/1/1974.

Art by Bill Narum, this is the VERY uncommon "1st-state" version with no specific opening acts mentioned; medium-thin flat vellum stock flyer is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; there is a fairly moderate amount of fading/toning to the piece, along with a bit of wear/tattering along the outer margins (a few small nips/tiny edge tears, a couple of thin corner-tip bends, a small diagonal crease in the lower right corner, a bit of stiffness to the paper, a series of small bends/tiny stress creases hiding within the image area, a soft stain or two on the reverse... definitely a well-loved example.

Really neat little Bill Narum-designed ZZ Top item from their largest-ever home state show. The show was attended by some 80,000 people, for which the University was apparently not prepared for. As a result, this was the last show held at the stadium for quite some time. Check out fan-shot photos and 1st-hand recollections of the show HERE:
