Description
Original "1st printing" (apparently one of only two made) HUGE 35 x 64" linen cloth banner (lobby sign) from the Western Front in San Francisco, CA.

Art by (and SIGNED by) Stanley Mouse, image (gold-lettering poster version) is featured in the Art of Rock on page 192 (plate 2.201).

Thin cotton linen sign is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there are a few soft discolored areas and a couple of tiny holes around the image area from where the linen was originally folded over the edges of a large piece of plywood and stapled down (kind of a soft border toning), along with a bit of minor stretching in a couple of areas, rough/frayed top/bottom borders (likely as issued), but to be honest- most of the conditional issues are somewhat unimportant, as this is VERY likely the ONLY SURVIVING EXAMPLE.

According to the consignor, this was one of two large signs that flanked the entry way doors to the club during its brief existence in 1967. When the club closed, the signs were dismantled from their plywood backings and put away for over 30 years.

INCREDIBLY COOL and UNIQUE (and MASSIVE) San Francisco psychedelic venue artifact!!!
