Original 1st printing 17&3/8 x 22&3/8" event/concert poster for the 6/4-5/1970 Trans Continental Pop Festival, held at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
This show (the final stop on the legendary "Festival Express" train tour across Canada) featured performances by the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, the Band, Buddy Guy, Delaney & Bonnie, Mashmakan, Charlebois, James & the Good Brothers, Eric Andersen, Mountain, Ian & Sylvia and the Great Speckled Bird, Tom Rush, John Sebastian and Smith.
Design by Ken Walker and John Lown, image (identical image from the Toronto stop) is featured in the art of Rock on page 376 (plate 4.132).
Thin flat index stock Poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; the poster was framed up at one point, resulting in a bit of fading to the orange pass of ink and approximately 1/8-1/4" of matte burn/toning around the outer edges; aside from that, there are a couple of small diagonal pressure creases/bends in the bottom left corner tip, a few very tiny edge dings/corner-tip creases and a stray stress bend/handling ding or two floating around the image area, otherwise fine. Physically, it is actually quite nice-looking.
A very cool artifact from a legendary tour (immortalized in the film "Festival Express"), check out raw footage of the Dead performing "Lovelight" on 7/4 HERE:
