Description

Original 1st printing 14 x 20" concert poster for the 6/28-7/2/1967 Grand Opening of the Western Front, featuring the Siegal-Schwall Blues Band, the Charlatans, Congress of Wonders and Bill Ham's Light Sound Dimension, plus (Sat. only) Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) and Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Art by Greg Irons, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 192 (plate 2.203).

Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in decent (B/B-) condition; there are large tack holes and tape residue marks in each corner and in the bottom center margin, along with a bit of creasing and a tiny 1/8" diagonal wedge of paper missing from the lower left corner tip, a hard 3/4" diagonal bend in the upper right corner tip, a slight water/moisture stain in the lower right margin, a few thin bends/light handling creases hiding within the image area, a slight curl to the paper and a light to moderate amount of toning, otherwise fine.

Conditional issues aside, this is still a presentable example of this semi-uncommon mid-'67 San Francisco poster with a delightful Greg Irons design.
