Original 1st printing 13&7/8 x 20" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.
Art by (and SIGNED in pencil by) Stanley Mouse AND Alton Kelley, image is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.
Medium flat vellum stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there is a 2" thin diagonal bend in the lower left corner, along with light handling wear, a pair of thin horizontal stress bends going through the right side of "Greatful" and on the left side of "Sopwith" going into Frankenstein's face, a bit of thinning in the corner tips (from a set of tape pulls on the reverse side), a whisper of light surface dirt and a slight eraser smudge on Kelley's signature (he re-did the "K", apparently not happy with it), otherwise fine.
Nice-looking DOUBLE ARTIST-SIGNED example of this ICONIC late-'66 Grateful Dead image. It was at these shows that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the band to their first major-label contract.
