Original 1st printing 14 x 16&7/8" concert poster for Santana appearing with the Sons of Champlin and Dancing Food & Entertainment at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 3/21-23/1969.

 Art by Bob Fried, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 111 (plate 2.31) and is part of the Soundproof Presents/Avalon series. 

 Medium-thick glossy-coated index stock poster is in good (B) condition; in addition to the trademark inking issues that are usually inherent to this particular poster (ink spread, scuffing/rubbing), there is a large 2&2/4" vertical tear along the bottom right margin, along with a smaller 1/2" tear in the bottom center margin (both sealed on the reverse with clear tape), a bit of light surface chipping and blue ink spread along the bottom margin, a thin horizontal stress bend between "Sound Proof Productions Presents" and "Santana", a few tiny corner-tip/edge dings and a couple of well-camouflaged thin handling/stress bends hiding within the image area, otherwise it is a very presentable example of Bob Fried's classic "surfing lion" image from the Soundproof/Avalon series.
