Description

Original 1st printing 15&3/4 x 20" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and Blue Cheer (*not sure about B.C.) at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 1/17/1968.

Art by Allen "Gut" Terk, image ("Ben Franklin's Birthday") is featured in the Art of Rock on page 181 (plate 2.169).

Medium flat index stock poster has been professionally restored to near mint/excellent (A-/B+) condition; there are several tiny pin/tack hole fills (all four corners and along the top/bottom margins) and the poster has received a washing to remove surface dirt (paper is bright white) leaving behind a slight moisture warp to the paper, but overall it looks SPECTACULAR... an absolutely GORGEOUS specimen.

This show was also the unofficial opening night of the Carousel as a band-managed venue. Check out a GREAT-sounding recording of the show HERE:
