Original 1st printing 14 x 22&1/4" cardboard concert poster for bluegrass legend Bill Monroe appearing Napredak Hall in Santa Clara, CA on 5/10/1963.
Design by/printed by Tilghman Press, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 56 (plate 1.92).
Thick flat cardboard stock letterpress poster is in decent/used (B/B- to B-) condition; there are tack holes in all four corners, in the top/bottom center margin and scattered around the image area, with an approximately 1/2" diagonal chunk of board missing from the top left corner tip, a pair of staple-hole drag tears/pulls in the top center margin, a thin 5" diagonal bend (with a small split at the top) going through the "p" of "Napredak", a moderate amount of toning with a 3&1/2 x 5" area of discoloration (and a couple of small tack holes) along the lower right margin, a pin-prick spot next to the "e" of "Monroe" and a couple of tiny razor slices along the left margin... definitely a well-traveled specimen that really looks like it was taken down from public display back in '63.
FASCINATING early-'60's "Camelot-era" concert artifact from Northern California, first one of these I have EVER seen.
