Description

Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 20" concert poster for Quicksilver Messenger Service appearing with Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin), the Loving Impuse, the S.F. Earthquake Dancers and the Congress of Wonders at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA on 12/18/1966. *show unconfirmed, but there was an advance photo of "Hippy Santa Claus" promoting the show in the "L.A. Free Press", so who knows?...

Design by Gut (Allan Terk), an almost-identical image from a Winterland show is featured in the Art of Rock on page 194 (plate 2.207).

This is the WIDE MARGIN version with an additional 1&3/4" strip along the left side with "DIRECT FROM SAN FRANCISCO", "Dancing 8:30-2:00" and "Shrine Exhibition Hall, 700 W. 32 St Los Angeles" printed in blue ink.

Medium flat vellum stock poster is in near mint (A- to A-/B+) condition; there are a few tiny pin-prick spots, a whisper of edge toning and a bit of easily-erasable pencil scratch on the reverse side, but for the most part it's a pretty clean example... the front side looks more or less IMPECCABLE.

Very festive holiday-themed Big Brother/Quicksilver concert poster from Los Angeles, this version doesn't seem to turn up very frequently.
