Description

 Original 1st printing 17&1/8 x 21&3/4" concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) appearing with Phoenix, Freedom Highway, Colours and South Side Sound System (featuring Charley Musselwhite) at the Straight Theater in San Francisco, CA from 9/1-3/1967.

 Art by Salas, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 202 (plate 2.228).

 Medium-thick flat index stock poster is in decent (B/B-) condition; there are a series of brown tape marks/shadows scattered along the top margin, in the lower right margin and in the bottom center margin, along with "# 6" written in black magic marker in the lower right corner, a few light handling/edge creases here and there and a bit of light smudging on the reverse side, otherwise OK.

 A used, but still presentable example of this unusual poster from the legendary Haight-Ashbury ballroom featuring the one and only Janis Joplin in the headlining spot.
