Original 1st printing 14 x 20&5/8" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin) at Winterland in San Francisco, CA on 10/22/1967. (*Marijuana Defense Benefit)
Art by Mari Tepper, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 193 (plate 2.205).
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in decent (B/B-) condition; there are tack/staple holes in all four corners with a 1" tear in the lower right corner (sealed on the reverse with clear tape), along with a bit of edge creasing, a soft 2" square stain in the center of the image area (more visible on the reverse), a thin horizontal crease traversing the center of the image area, a soft horizontal bend near the top margin, a light amount of handling wear/creasing and a series of dark tape stains/pulls on the reverse.. while this example certainly exhibits a bit of wear, it has become one of the harder-to-find early Dead posters over time. Fortunately, many of the cosmetic flaws on this one are fairly well-camouflaged by Mari's design.
