Description

Original 1st printing 14 x 22" concert/event poster for the 1st Sky River Rock Festival and Lighter Than Air Fair, held at Betty Nelson's Organic Strawberry Farm in Sultan, WA from 8/30-9/2/1968.

Art by Walt Crowley/Shoddy Art Co., image is featured on page 180 of "Split Fountain Hieroglyphics" (plate SFH 145a).

Poster lists appearances by: Allmen Joy, Boogie, Buddha, Sandy Bull, Cleveland Wrecking Co., Congress of Wonders, Country Joe & the Fish, Country Weather, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Freedom Highway, Frumious Bandersnatch, Marvin Gardens, Gale Garnett, Glad, Dr. Humbead's New Tranquility String Band, It's A Beautiful Day, Kaleidoscope, Steve Miller Band, Muddy Waters, Mystic Knights of the Sea, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, People, Phoenix, Richard Pryor, Billy Roberts, Salvation, the Youngbloods, Santana, Steppenwolf, S.F. Mime Troupe Marching Band and Dino Valenti. Also appeared:  the Grateful Dead (unannounced).

Medium flat vellum stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; there is a 2&1/2 x 3&1/4" square of light toning in the lower left corner, along with a few stray thin bends/light creases scattered around the outer margin area, a tiny pin-prick spot in the top left corner and a few soft handling dings here and there, otherwise it is a GREAT-looking example of this uncommon Pacfic Northwest festival artifact with a great design and a killer lineup.
