Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 19&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.
Art by Alton Kelley with Stanley Mouse, image ("Frankenstein") is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good/decent (B/B-) condition; there are tack holes in all four corners, along with a small 3/4" wedge of missing paper in the top right corner tip, a few stray tiny edge creases/dings scattered around the outer margin area, a few well-camouflaged soft bends hiding within the image area, a couple of soft pin-prick splatter marks in the lower right margin and a mild amount of paper toning, otherwise OK... overall, a very presentable ORIGINAL 1st printing "Frankenstein" poster.
According to some sources, this was the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic Dead!
