Description

Original 1st printing (first state/initial lineup version) 19&7/8 x 30" concert/event poster for the third Isle of Wight Festival, held on the Isle of Wight off the coast of Southern England from 8/28-30/1970.

Poster lists appearances by Richie Havens, Pentangle, The Who, the Moody Blues, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Family, Free, the Doors, Chicago, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Donovan, Good News, Ralph McTell, Jethro Tull, Taste (with Rory Gallagher), Melanie, Arrival, Lighthouse, Sly & the Family Stone, Joan Baez, Voices of East Harlem, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Mungo Jerry, and Spirit (*Tiny Tim and Miles Davis were later added to the lineup after this version was released)

Design by Dave Roe, medium-thin flat index "fly-posting" (smooth front/rough reverse) stock poster is in good/decent (B) condition; along the bottom margin/edge there is a 6" long area of pronounced horizontal pressure creasing with a series of tiny pin-prick spots, a few tiny stains, edge nips and a bit of softening, along with a bit of light diagonal corner-tip creasing/softening (all four corners), a soft stain along the upper left border. a bit of edge wear/creasing along the upper margin area, a few light handling creases, thin stress bends and a stray pin-prick surface stain or two lurking within the image area and a bit of light vertical smudging along the right-side interior border, otherwise OK.

Overall, a very presentable example of this classic 1970 multi-act Festival artifact from the 3rd (and final) edition of the IOW.
