Original 1st printing 14 x 20&1/2" boxing-style letterpress concert poster for the Detroit Courier's first Annual Jazz Poll- Comb & Clipper Contest and Awards Show, a hairstylist's expo/concert held at Ford Auditorium in Detroit, MI on 9/21/1964.
The music/entertainment portion of the program lists appearances by" Johnny Trafton and his Big Band, Jimmy Wilkins and his Orchestra, Martha Jean (the Queen), Tony & Tyrone, Levi Mann, Nettie Glynn, the Peps, Big John's Swing Caravan, Kim Weston and way down at the bottom of the bill, a very young Aretha Franklin (misspelled "Areatha").
Designer unknown/not credited, thick cardboard stock letterpress poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there is a bit of semi-prominent age spotting/discoloration along the top and upper right margin areas, along with a light degree of edge toning, a few tiny loose pin-prick age spots/specks here and there and a light fade to the board, otherwise fine.
Interesting oddball mid-1964 music/variety poster from the Motor City!
