Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 20" concert poster for Quicksilver Messenger Service appearing with Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin -her first headlining performances with BBHC) at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 6/24-25/1966.
Art by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, image ("Zig-Zag Man") is # 14 in the Family Dog/Avalon series. (*OP-1 in the Eric King guide)
Medium flat vellum stock poster is in decent (B/B-) condition; there is a moderate degree of toning on this example, along with staple holes in all four corners and in the top/bottom center margins (a couple of them have tiny drag tears, edge nips and/or small dark tape residue marks), a 1" vertical tear in the lower right margin, a few stray light pin-prick surface spots/indentations, minor handling/stress creases and thin hairline bends scattered throughout the image area, a 1/2" tear in the top center margin and a long thin horizontal tape pull on the reverse side, otherwise OK.
*the metallic pass of ink on this particular example leans VERY heavily towards the solid silver end of the range, most others I have seen lean closer to gold/brown.
