Original 1st printing 14&3/8 x 20" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with John Hammond and his Screaming Nighthawks and Robert Baker from 3/24-25/1967 and with Quicksilver Messenger Service on 3/26/1967, all shows held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA.
Art by Rick Griffin, image is # 54 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.
Medium flat index stock poster is in used (B-) condition; as you can see from the photo, the entire left side of the poster is unevenly toned, along with a fairly heavy amount of edge/corner-tip wear (numerous staple/tack holes, creases, drag tears), a small diagonal wedge missing from the bottom right corner tip, a series of horizontal roll bends, several small edge tears/creases along the left/right margins, a moderate degree of paper toning, tape pulls/residue and a "Lido Studio" stamp on the reverse... this example has quite obviously been around the block a few times, but as they say- "it is what it is.".
According to a VERY well-researched account, none other than Eric Burdon & the Animals stopped by to play a surprise set on Sunday the 26th- read all about it HERE:
