Original 1st printing 14 x 20&1/8" concert poster for the Grateful Dead and the Sons of Champlin appearing "with other groovies" at the Straight Theater in San Francisco, CA from 9/27-28/1967.
Art by C. Braga, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 201 (plate 2.224).
Medium-thick vellum stock poster is in good/decent (B to B/B-) condition; this example (like many existing copies) has "Classes" hand-written in blue ballpoint pen just beneath where it says "Dance" on the upper left/right side of the image area, along with a pair of fossilized tape marks in the top/bottom center margins (bottom also has a tiny surface pull), tack holes in all four corners and in the top/bottom center margins, a tiny bend in the top right corner top, a pin-prick spot/drip mark in the left margin, a trace of handling wear and a couple of soft smudges (and another pair of tape marks) on the reverse side, otherwise OK.
A pretty nice-looking gently-used example of this always-in-demand Grateful Dead poster with crucial historical significance (*drummer Mickey Hart's debut performance with the band on 9/29). Amazingly enough, about a minute-and-a-half of black and white footage from one of the shows surfaced about three months ago, check it out HERE:
