Description

Original 1st printing 8&3/8 x 11" contact sheet (pre-press negative image printed on metallic gold-coated brown stock) for a concert flyer for Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin) appearing with Magic Fern (Fri) and Crome Syrcus (Sat) at Eagles Auditorium in Seattle, WA from 10/13-14/1967.

Art by John Moehring, image is SFH 076B in Scott McDougall's "Split Fountain Hieroglyphics".

Thin flat stock flyer is in very good (B/B+) condition; there is a bit of light creasing, along with a series of light smudge marks/fingerprints scattered around the outer margin, a series of thin vertical lines along the left side of the image area (and on the reverse side- possibly from the press?), a tiny crease in the upper left corner/margin, a tiny nip tear along the bottom margin and a bit of surface scuffing that appears when the piece is tilted towards a light source, otherwise OK.

INCREDIBLY WEIRD John Moehring Eagles Auditorium pre-press item, made even weirder by the fact that the image size is slightly smaller than the finished piece... no idea what this was used for, possibly to make the plate?
