Description

Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 26&1/4" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) at Winterland in San Francisco, CA on 10/31/1967.

Art by Alton Kelley, Stanley Mouse and Rick Griffin, image ("Trip or Freak") is featured in the Art of Rock on page 185 (plate 2.183).

Medium smooth index stock poster is in good (B) condition; there are staple/tack holes in all four corners, along with a tiny wedge of paper missing from the top right corner tip, a series of stray edge nicks, tiny hairline creases and small nip tears scattered around the outer margin area, a small stain in the upper left corner, a few well-camouflaged handling/stress dings and tiny pin-prick spots hiding within the image area and there are a series of fun-tak residue stains, a decent-sized tape pull and a bit of toning on the reverse, otherwise OK... I have seen better and I have seen worse, this example actually looks pretty good overall.

EPIC late-1967 collaborative effort by 3/5ths of "the Big 5", I haven't had a first printing of this one for a WHILE.
