Original 1st printing 12&7/8 x 19&3/4" (appx. -top margin cut on a slight diagonal angle by about 1/8") concert/event poster for beat poet Allen Ginsberg and Swami Bhaktivendanta appearing along with the Grateful Dead, Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) and Moby Grape in a benefit* performance (*for the San Francisco Krishna Temple), held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 1/29/1967.
Design by Harvey Cohen (*thanks Andy!), image ("Krishna Consciousness Comes West") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 107 (plate 2.18).
Medium flat vellum stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; thre are tack holes in all four corners, along with a small diagonal surface pull in the upper left corner, a tiny bend and a little bit of softening to the bottom left corner tip, a bit of dirt in the top right corner tip, a few VERY light handling dings here and there and there are a couple of tiny white pin-prick surface chips and a soft smudge or two hiding within the image area, but overall it's in pretty nice shape.
Nice-looking gently-used-looking example of this early-1967 Avalon benefit poster with a great design and a stacked lineup.
