Description

Original 1st printing 14 x 21&1/2" concert poster for Country Joe & the Fish appearing with Led Zeppelin (their San Francisco debut) and Taj Mahal at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA from 1/9-11/1969.

Art by Randy Tuten (with William "Daddy Bread" Bosdedt and a photo by Peter Pynchon), image is # 155 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series.

Medium glossy-coated stock poster is in used (B-) condition; there are numerous tiny thin hairline cracks/creases traversing the image area throughout the poster, along with a light to moderate degree of toning (red ink is also faded), a fair amount of excess black ink along the bottom margin area, several stray pin-prick stains, spots, scratches and scuffs, a small tear above the "y" of "Country". a tack hole in the upper left/center margin, several edge dings, toning on the reverse... the photo should show pretty clearly what's going on with this one.

Conditional issues aside, this poster really has a lot going for it in a historical sense... in addition to the Taj and Zeppelin sets, Country Joe's guests on the final night (1/11) included Jerry Garcia and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna (incidentally, the Airplane's Jack Casady was filling in on bass for Country Joe at all of these shows) and Steve Miller.

A HUGE night at the Fillmore for only $3.50!
