Description

Original 1st printing 13&1/8 x 18&5/8" concert/event poster for the Haight-Ashbury Festival, a benefit for the Haight-Ashbury Children's Center, held at the Golden Gate Park Panhandle in San Francisco, CA from 5/24-25/1969.

Poster lists appearances by Country Joe McDonald, the Afro-Cubanos, Pipe Joint Compound, Johnny Sunshine, the Pitschell Players and many more.

Art by Wes Wilson, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 206 (plate 2.243).

Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; there are tack holes in all four corner tips, along with a thin 4" diagonal bend in the upper left corner, a couple of small corner-tip pressure creases, a soft handling ding or two hiding within the image area and a tiny bit of pencil scratch on the reverse side ("Wes Wilson '69"-  looks like Wes' handwriting, but I can't prove it), otherwise fine.

Very nice looking example of this always-popular 1969 Wes Wilson poster from the AOR.
