Description

Original 1st printing 8&7/8 x 11&1/4" benefit (*for the Council for Civic Unity) concert flyer, "Abe Lincoln's Birthday", which featured the Grateful Dead appearing with Moby Grape, Sly & the Family Stone, Notes from the Underground and the New Salvation Army Band at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 2/11/1967.

Art by Hank Lelo, image is not part of the numbered Bill Graham/Fillmore series (this show falls on the same date as BG 49), but it does appear in the Art of Rock on page 151 (plate 2.73) in the "Fillmore Auditorium Benefits" chapter and is credited to Bill Graham in the top margin.

Thin flat stock flyer is in near mint to excellent (A-/B+ to B+) condition; really nothing more than a couple of minuscule edge/corner-tip dings, a whisper of edge toning and a nearly-invisible soft stain on the reverse side, it is an absolutely SUPERB example of this semi-uncommon early-1967 Fillmore benefit item with an awesome all-Bay Area lineup, highlighted by the Grateful Dead and Sly & the Family Stone.
