Description

Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" concert flyer for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.

Art by Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse, image is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

Thin flat stock flyer is in near mint to excellent (A-/B+ to B+) condition; aside from a touch of creasing along the bottom margin, a well-camouflaged thin stress bend/pin-prick spot or two hiding within the image area and a nearly-invisible diagonal bend in the lower left corner tip, otherwise it is a VERY sharp example of this early Grateful Dead concert artifact from the Avalon.

As a side note, this was reportedly the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic!
