Description

Original 1st printing 6 x 7&1/2" double-sided (map on the reverse) concert/event handbill for the (second) Newport Pop Festival, held at Devonshire Downs in Northridge, CA from 6/20-23/1969.

Handbill lists performances by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Spirit, Joe Cocker, Southwind, Taj Mahal, Albert King, Edwin Hawkins Singers, Ike & Tina Turner, Jerry Lauderdale, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steppenwolf, Jethro Tull, Eric Burdon, Buffy St. Marie, Friends of Distinction, Charity, Sweetwater, Lee Michaels, Albert Collins, Love, Brenton Wood, Chambers Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Grass Roots, Three Dog Night, Booker T. & the MG's, Johnny Winter, the Byrds, Poco, Mother Earth, the Flock and the Rascals.

Art by Bob Masse (not credited), thin flat stock handbill is in decent/used (B-) condition; there are semi-pronounced horizontal/vertical folds with little spots of toning at the ends (top/bottom/left/right center margins) and where the folds intersect, along with a large diagonal bend going across the lower part of the image area, a bit of light handling, pieces of clear tape on the reverse (map) side corner tips, a couple of corner-tip bends and "Jethro Tull" has been circled with blue ballpoint pen... definitely a well-traveled artifact, but it's still all there.
